Jeff Coulter wrote on the Chapters: Midland and Odessa Area wall: Hello. I'm new to the area. I retired from the Army this past March and started teaching JROTC at Odessa HS in May. I'm a member of American Legion Post 430 and of VFW Post 4372, both in Odessa. I want to be able to use my experience to help my fellow veterans. To this end, I aspire to get a Masters of Social Work and become a VA mental health counselor. I'm looking forward to getting involved with this MVPN chapter. When and where are the meetings? Thanks.

Janci Bridges wrote on the Chapters: Midland and Odessa Area wall: Well, we have had a very busy couple of weeks here in Midland and Odessa. It all started back on April 10th. I was invited to go and speak at TCU. That went very well. Next up on the list was the Aspen Mobile Mouth Dental Truck. Together with their help we were able to see 18 veterans and their families. They were able to have their most urgent dental needs tended to and were also able to make arrangements to have further work done if necessary. After that we gave a helping hand to the local chapter of the DAV and manned some tables for them during their Forget Me Not fundraiser campaign. All in total our veterans helped raise $3700.00 for their service fund. This fund helps veterans with unexpected costs such as medical, travel expenses, unusually high utility bills, or even just to help put groceries in the cupboard. We all know that sometimes you just need a helping hand. Then, I was able to speak at Baker Hughes Veteran Resource Group Luncheon. After that MVPN went out and help spread the word about mental health at the Agape Color Dash. I know that we have been very busy and I hope you guys have some time left to volunteer. We still have several events coming up. On May 14-16 we will have a booth set up at the Rockhound's Stadium for the Military Appreciation Games and then at the end of June we have the Veteran's Stand Down and Benefits Fair. So thanks for the hard work and I look forward to seeing you there.
