The VETERANS ONE STOP HOUSES the McLennan County Veteran Service Officer: Steve Hernandez - Peer to Peer mentors to help navigate resources - Veterans benefits and claims assistance - Referrals to VA healthcare - Texas Veterans Commission Employment Representative - job placement - Education GI Bill - Application help - Free legal assistance - Mental health counseling - Emergency assistance (non-financial) Family Support/social service - Volunteer opportunities and Veterans research referrals. Veterans One-Stop Center is sponsored by Heart of Texas Region MHMR. Key features of the One Stop: Drop in center with comfy couches to allow vets to visit other vets, Ten offices for use by veterans serving organizations with adjoining welcome area, Conference room with boardroom table, Small computer lab, Outdoor covered picnic tables and shaded patio, Shared information intake area with receptionist/coordinator to answer phones and welcome visitors, Kitchen, Handicapped access ramp and bathrooms.
