Chapters: Wichita Falls

Our goal is to help active duty, reserves, guard, veterans and their family members who suffer from the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), or Military Sexual Assault (MST), to connect with support available for them and the benefits they have earned. We assist in providing certified facilitators who are trained to help you.

David A. Jones wrote on the Chapters: Wichita Falls wall: The Veterans Freedom Retreat is looking for US Military Veterans, diagnosed with PTS, to attend an 8-day retreat at a Bed & Breakfast Ranch located just north of Fort Worth for March 12-19, 2017. Our previous retreat was held in October 2016 and the data indicated a decrease of PTS stress by 48 percent for the participants. There is no charge for the veterans with PTS nor to their partner/spouse. The retreat includes equine, massage, art, mask and yoga therapy. Professional counseling, by experienced PTS counselors, will be provided daily for six days during the retreat. For more information contact me or go to Veteransfreedomreteat.org.

Karen Self (Lyons) wrote on the Chapters: Wichita Falls wall: I've added a couple of pictures from Thanksgiving. This year my family participated in the Operation Thanksgiving program with Sheppard AFB. We invited two airmen to spend the day with us on Thanksgiving. I have to say it was the best Thanksgiving I have ever had. With family members and the two airmen there was a total of 7 military members and veterans sitting at the dinner table that day. What a blessing.

Karen Self (Lyons) wrote on the Chapters: Wichita Falls wall: I have posted several new pictures on the photo gallery - two are with the Wise County Veterans Group. I presented them a beautiful framed certificate from our soldiers in Afghanistan. It is now on display at the Wise County Veterans Museum in Bridgeport. Another picture is of me talking with veterans and their families at the Nocona Health Fair. There is one showing our participation in the Wichita Falls Veterans Parade. And one showing me with the Bowie VFW members and Auxiliary. I did a short presentation explaining our program.
