Good afternoon,

I wanted to make everyone aware that there will be a MVPN Basic Training for Peers this month held on March 24th. A few have expressed interest in the training and I wanted to make it available as soon as possible. The flyer contains the QR code as well as the Eventbrite link to register. It is important to communicate that this does not certify an individual as a peer support specialist, the training is used to enhance peer to peer interaction and to serve as a basic requirement to pursue other MVPN sponsored Training. For example, we are conducting VCAMP (Veteran Court Mentorship and Advocacy Training) at the end of the month going into the beginning of April, the MVPN Basic Training serves as a prerequisite for that opportunity. I highly encourage those of you that will attend the Basic Training to also attend the VCAMP as it will provide the guidance needed to become an effective Vet Court mentor. We would be able to work to coordinate registration for the upcoming VCAMP the week of the MVPN basic training.

The outline of the Basic training is as follows:

-Training in the fundamentals of peer support

-Training on development and use of interpersonal and assessment skills

-How to be aware of signs regarding stress, depression, suicide and addictive behaviors

-Training on the different modes of peer support
